The girls’ water polo team has been known as one of the top teams in school. Coach Harvey explains how such a legacy is maintained. “We have a pretty good system. The players seem to be well motivated to continue the legacy…they make sure to have fun and want to win as well as having discipline and working hard. When you do all that, success generally follows,” he says.

Keeping the dominant attitude, he goes over the plan for this weekend’s tournament. “I expect to have some fight in us, to battle for every loose ball and make the other team regret they came into our territory,” he says.

To honor the 25th anniversary of 9/11, Mr. Perry, one of the WHS U.S History teachers, wants students to understand how the attacks changed American society while also recognizing the consequences that follow. “It was a surge of patriotism in the United States, which also had downsides, because there were also waves of Islamophobia that kind of came with it,” he said.

Ayush Marwal, a Ceramics student, and a junior was asked to describe what he is currently making in ceramics.

“I decided to make an electric guitar. It works by putting a bunch of clay into a tiny exuder, and then you could have a bunch of clay noodles, then assemble them. [You can] slowly build up whatever you’re trying to make.
And I feel like it’s one of the best tools in ceramics because it is the most flexible one to work with, both literally and figuratively.”

When asked about why he joined ceramics, he explains,

“I joined ceramics because I love going to Hotspot with my friends. Painting [ceramics] is one of the most relaxing things to do there.
And then one day I thought that if I can paint pottery, I can make pottery. So I joined ceramics class. [Something] I really love about Ceramics class is [the fact that] Mr. Rodenkirk has so much equipment.”
