Sayso Says is an album by Che, released on August 30th, 2024. Che (real name Chase Shaun Mitchell), is a rapper from Atlanta, Georgia, who has been making music since 2020. Originally starting out making music from the “plugg” variety, Mitchell slowly eased his way into the “rage” sub-genre, with his first studio album, Sayso Says. Che’s influences vary from rappers such as Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Chief Keef, to alternative rock based band Paramore, electronic duo Crystal Castles, and the late blues singer, Amy Winehouse. Mitchell also frequently collaborates with fellow rappers Nettspend, Osamason, and xaviersobased.

Before Sayso Says, its predecessor was Mitchell’s sophomore mixtape, Crueger, which introduced his audience to the alter-ego, Sayso, which is meant to represent the opposite of Mitchell’s calm and laid back demeanor, as Sayso is a more chaotic and dark representation of Mitchell’s personality. Crueger was mostly inspired by previous Chief Keef projects, from similar instrumentals to similar vocal cadence that Mitchell brings throughout the project. However, as he would bring his alter-ego onto Sayso Says, he would give Sayso a complete overhaul, making the project more rage inspired, with an entirely new voice for the alter-ego, by giving him a more robotic tone, to make him come off more uneasy and inhuman. Mitchell would then give his audience glimpses into the next project by teasing music videos and snippets for songs such as “CUT OFF YOUR HANDS”, and a music video alongside the release of the album, for the opening track, “I Rot, I Rot”, directed by AMD of Lyrical Lemonade. Mitchell would also release a trailer for the album, which includes a parody of the title card from Tyler, The Creators music video for “She”. Mitchell would also attend livestreams with streamers Young Dabo and PlaqueBoyMax, previewing tracks “ENJOY YOUR LIFE” and “Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things”.

“Sayso Says” takes inspiration from the aforementioned duo Crystal Castles, and UK based group You Love Her in terms of sound. The album mostly consists of distorted 808s, EDM inspired melodies, & fast paced drums. Where the influence sticks out specifically is with tracks such as “Interlude” and “NUNCA HACER COCINA”. The album takes on a horror themed aesthetic, with Sayso constantly partying and chasing the high, with his violent tendencies and thoughts being revealed, before the people at the party realize it’s already too late.

Notable producers that helped Mitchell create the story of Sayso consists of former producer group DRACO FM’s skai & Warren Hunter, label Pink Noise’s MISOGI and Ginseng, Mitchell’s frequent collaborator, producer & engineer CXO, Jay Trench, and more. The people that made the creepy and eerie aesthetic for the album are Mitchell’s creative director poppygavin, and videographer noahsocold. Near the ending of Sayso Says, the album takes a slower approach, with a view of Sayso’s softer side, with the track “Children Shouldn’t Play With Dead Things”, as he speaks to a romantic partner that he will always be there if they need him, and how he can’t bare to be without them, even for a day. As the chorus reads “You can’t see me, I’m right here, with both my shoes tied, I fell, you watched me bleed, it’s bright red, Those nights without you are nightmares, Those nights without you are nightmares, If you need a reach, girl, I’m right here, If you need a reach, girl, I’m right here, If you need a reach, take my hand.” It highlights the romantic and yearning side of Sayso, where buried beneath all of the hyperactiveness and violence, there’s still a heart underneath it all. This softer and more vulnerable side of Sayso can also be seen in the unreleased song “Part the Red Seas.” The ending track “My Favorite Color is Red”, speaks for itself in terms of creating an uncanny atmosphere, as he’s come to the realization that the party is over, and said violent tendencies got the best of him, as the song fades out, so does Sayso. The song samples Crystal Castles opening track for their self titled album “Untrust Us”.

Mitchell would abandon the Sayso persona the year after Sayso Says, in pursuit of his newest album to date, “REST IN BASS.” Mitchell would still adapt the creepy atmosphere to trailers and snippets for said project, but with a complete redesign in sound, with more distortion incorporated into the project. Mitchell’s audience has compared the album to Playboi Carti’s “Whole Lotta Red”, in terms of sound, influence, and vocals. He would henceforth adapt a new name and persona to start the new era of his music, dubbing himself, the “BASS GOD”. As he moves forward with his career, traveling across the world from all over the United States, to European countries such as Romania, and Poland to attend and perform at Music Festivals. As 2026 comes to a close, Mitchell then gave his fans three EPs, and the grail song “14 HAHAHA LOL” (previously known as PASS OUT), as a soundcloud exclusive, to which Mitchell would then vow to take a break for the year, and come back in 2027 with more music.
