With the 2026 school year coming to a close, many different classes are concluding their studies and lectures. The Washington High School Band, however, has been hard at work preparing for Competitions, performances, and senior sendoffs. For many seniors in band, this isn’t just the end of a high school elective, but a reflection of all the hardships they went through and accomplishments they earned.
With this year’s seniors at Washington High School prepping to start the next phase of their lives, they all are united by the same set of concerns. The question: “Have you been applying for colleges?” lingers in each of their minds throughout the school year, and recent domestic factors have not helped with this overwhelming pressure.
As college application season starts, high school seniors all over the country are stressing out about essays and their grade point averages.
College acceptance rates are dropping annually—likely due to Covid, causing dejected students to question what their hard work has been for and leading frustrated parents to push for measures that will support California applicants.
