- Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk
One of the most romantic attractions in California is the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It is a mile long boardwalk and amusement park just south of central Santa Cruz. If you’re shy, or get nervous about too many “awkward silences” on a date, this is the place for you! There are a lot of activities there to choose from to fill in the silence. You can sit on the beach and enjoy the warm sun and the sound of the ocean, go on rides, or eat. Two of the rides, the Giant Dipper and the Looff Carousel, are National Historic Landmarks. You can get a picture taken here with your date! It’ll serve as a cute memento of your budding romance. There are many different restaurants to choose from, so the food varies a lot. You can get nachos, hot dogs, pizza, ice cream, and more. You’ll also find an arcade, a two-story miniature golf course, and a laser tag arena.
2. San Francisco – Pier 39
The possibilities are endless at one of San Francisco’s most beloved destinations, Pier 39. First off, there are many photo opportunities. You can capture pictures in front of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the Bay Bridge, Bay Lights, and the city skyline. In addition, San Francisco is home to many wild animals. Pier 39, specifically, is famous for their sea lions. It would be fun to visit them with your date, and take pictures of them as well. You’ll be able to take in the beauty of nature together. Furthermore, just like any other place, it will be fun to eat together at one of San Francisco’s many restaurants. You may even get a good view of the Golden Gate Bridge from where you’re sitting! Overall, it’s a very romantic location to have a date because San Francisco is not only beautiful, but also very lively.
3. Monterey Bay Aquarium
Monterey Bay Aquarium is a romantic getaway for you and your partner if you’re a fan of nature. You can stroll through the aquarium to see a variety of animals including sea turtles, stingrays, sharks, jellyfish and schools of fish. Many people take pictures in front of the jellyfish tank because it has a nice aesthetic. Finally, after you are done looking at the animals, you can go outside to feel a salty breeze in the air. It sets a relaxing vibe, which can be perfect for a laid back date. Another plus is that the aquarium will give you a lot to talk about. At the end of the night, when you guys get hungry, there’s a dine-in restaurant that you can eat at which has an ocean view. Sitting here and watching the sunset after a fun marine adventure is exactly what you need to close out this perfect night.
4. Great America
Great America is a great way to entertain you and your date for the day, as well as a great bonding experience. This amusement park includes thrilling rides, water park fun, and live entertainment. At Great America, it will be fun to go on rides with your date and feel the rush of adrenaline. Imagine sitting together with the wind in your hair and screaming together as the roller coaster drops. In addition, after the ride, you can walk to the booth where they took your picture mid-ride and laugh about it. Furthermore, just like every other place, there’s food! I recommend the delicious funnel cake and churros. Finally, it’s a great place to take pictures and make memories. One of the best photo spots would be the entrance plaza. It has a nice set up with white rocks, crystal clear water jets, and the Carousel Columbia just behind it.
